Why the City Day in Minsk isn't celebrated on March 3?
Answer: Actually the date of a holiday has been determined according to the Moscow tradition by Stalin, Yeltsin and Luzhkov.
On September 13, 2002 was published the article in the “Evening Minsk” newspaper: "Dear citizens! Dear guests! For the first time Minsk celebrates the City Day …when summer repairs of the streets, areas and houses finished, when pupils and students came back from their vacation time (…). September is the harvesting time... The early autumn is time of the holidays that devoted to Bogoroditsa, …and her image is on the coat of arms of Minsk. Therefore the City Day is also devoted to women, motherhood… ".
